Welcome to my ever changing gallery, of Fins & Feathers ( aka fish & birds). Each piece is made of reclaimed wood which I cut, sand, and in some cases add layers ( fins or wings added) paint, seal for protection and add hangers on the back. My inventory is ever changing and each fish or bird is unique; no two are alike and thus I do not have a gallery of pieces for sale cause quite honestly many of the images seen above and below have already sold. The critters I am showing here hopefully  give you a sense of what they could look like. If you are looking to purchase directly or just see what I have here at the studio,  I encourage you to contact me directly at flowerpowerme25@gmail.com and I can send photos of what I have currently available. If you are looking to pay for fish directly, Fish are $25 each and Birds are $30. I accept Venmo Chake Higgison: 7145

While I can ship fish, unfortunately I can not offer free shipping on fish orders; due to their length, I have found shipping to run between $20 to $30 for most orders, sent via USPS, first class.

The BACK STORY of FINS & FEATHERS: In spring of 2025 we took down old fencing that had stood and weathered on our property for the better part of 20 years. For months I thought about transforming some of the sticks/stakes into fish as I had seen somewhere at a sea side restaurant years ago.  Months later when I finally got to experimenting with it, I had so much fun that I never stopped and have been working with reclaimed fence sticks and more recently oak palette wood ever since.  The process has proved so fun and engaging that recently my husband, when he has time, has lent a hand cutting, and assembling as well. I have always loved to paint patterns and designs and these fish and birds afford me the opportunity to just play with colors shapes and even florals without needing to 'resolve' a whole painting.  All the critters have been coated with a protective finish; some are very durable and can be hung outside while others have a wood wax finish and are best hung in a location protected from the elements of water, ice and snow.
